New Iconic Skynet at South Campus @ HKUST

New Iconic Skynet at South Campus @ Hong Kong University of Science & Technology

Following the great success of the Skynet Project at Hong Kong Polytechnic University Logo Square (A Dialogue with Zaha Hadid’s Innovation Tower), and the Cafeteria Courtyard, the new Iconic South Campus Entrance of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is another example to demonstrate New Aesthetics on Geometric Shapes and Forms for Iconic Nodal Expressions.

Situated in the South Entrance, the site is a narrow linear site with a roundabout and a major car park lot, the fundamental function of the Iconic Skynet at South Campus of the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology is performing as a Campus Connector connecting Bus Stops to Car park, Pavements to Business School and the Main Campus Block, and yet the Geometrical Forms & Shapes are the attempt to Re-Create an Iconic and Nodal Entrance Statement by “Triangular” Shapes and Supports.

3 Nodal Points below the Triangular Skynet carry different landscape elements like “Free-Form” Seating with Shrubs, LED TVs and Iconic University Logos.
